There are two ways of capturing bug report from the device.


1. Using Esper Dashboard



To capture a log from a device that is in kiosk mode, you first need to take the device out of kiosk mode. The process is as follows:

  1. In the Esper Console, click Devices in the navigation sidebar
  2. Click View Details on the Device tile for the device you’re changing
  3. Click the Settings tab
  4. Click Unpin App. This will unpin the kiosk app from your device.
     Usually the Compliance Policy for Kiosk mode blocks the Notification from being displayed. Since we need the notification bar to request a bug report, you need to set a new Compliance policy on the device.

  5. Right-click on Compliance Policy in the navigation sidebar and select Open link in new tab from the popup menu
  6. Copy the existing Compliance Policy by clicking the Duplicate Policy button (two overlapping squares) in line with the policy.
  7. Click the pencil icon in line with the name of the copied policy.
  8. Enter a new unique name in the Policy Name field.
  9. Toggle the button for Notification Bar to on.
  10. Click Save.
  11. Click back to the browser tab with the Device window open.
  12. Click the Compliance Policy tab.
  13. Select your new policy from the Select Policy dropdown and click Apply Policy.
  14. Once the policy has been applied, the device will display the notification “Policy Switch successful.”
  15. On the device, drag your finger down from top to display the notification bar.
  16. On the Console, click the Capture Log tab and click Start.
  17. On the device notification bar, you will see that the system is capturing a bug report. At the end of this process, tap the small down-arrow down next "Share bug report?" and tap Share.
  18. On the console, click the bug report to download a copy.
  19. Click the Compliance Policy tab.
  20. Select the original policy from the Select Policy dropdown and click Apply Policy.
  21. Click the Settings tab
  22. Click on Pin App to put the device back into kiosk mode.
  23. Select the app to be used in Kiosk mode from the “Select Kiosk App” dropdown
  24. Click Save.

2. Using ADB
a. Download the platform tools from here for your system OS and install on your Laptop/Desktop.
b. Apply a policy on the device to enable adb from dashboard.
c. Go to device->Settings->Adb Access at the bottom of the page and enable for may be Always for now.
d. Connect the device via USB cable to your laptop/Desktop where you have installed the platform tools and traverse to       the platform-tools directory.
e. Prompt should come on the device to allow Authorisation for "Allow USB Debugging", click OK.
f. Check that device is connected to your system with the following command "adb devices".
g. Run the following command to capture bug-report. "adb bugreport". This will start capturing bug reports on the device and after a minute it will provide you a location where reports have been generated on the       device and as well in your system in current directory.
